EPICure at Ten Years
This has been a very exciting time for EPICure. Funding was secured from the Medical Research Council and new sets of assessments were carried out. Our success in gaining funding is largely due to the valuable information obtained in the previous studies. This has only been possible because of the amazing contribution by the EPICure Children, their parents and teachers.
The original group of EPICure Children were assessed as they reached the end of Junior school and we were very keen to find out how everyone was doing. A new assessment was designed and we aimed to see all the available EPICure children with one of their classmates at approximately 10 - 11 years of age.
This study involved paediatric and educational assessments. We also looked at the genetics of prematurity and assessed whether the EPICure children had breathing problems.
